When juicing for weight loss, turn whole beets and beet greens into juice. Beet juice is very strong and more palatable when mixed in your vegetable juicer with celery, lettuce and carrot juice. Beet juice also combines well with cucumber, asparagus, endive and apple juice.
Be careful not to juice an entire beet! They are of strong taste so go easy and mix with other fruits and veggies to cut the taste. Start out with no more than 1/4 of a medium beet and then adjust according to taste.
Beets can cause palpitations if consumed in excess. They can also change the colour of your urine and/or faeces, so don't freak out if it's red!
